Peace, nature, adventure.
Yours every day.

Clarens Mountain Estate isn't just a place to live. It's a way of living. Every detail has been considered, from world-class infrastructure and 24/7 security to 25 km of hiking trails and a vibrant village on your doorstep. What that leaves you with is time, and somewhere worth spending it.

Hiking & Mountain Biking

25+ km of Trails on Your Doorstep

All residents have exclusive access to more than 25 km of hiking and mountain biking trails, including direct access to Mount Horeb, the magnificent peak that sits proudly on the north-eastern corner of the estate.

Snow on the Malutis

A Front-Row Seat to All Four Seasons

Clarens sits at around 1,800 metres above sea level, which is what gives each season here a character of its own.

Summer arrives with brief afternoon thunderstorms and days in the mid-twenties. Autumn turns the valley copper, which is when Clarens earns its reputation as one of the most photographed towns in South Africa. Winter days are bright and dry, the nights drop to freezing and the wider Maluti range carries snow. Follow them two hours into Lesotho and you reach the only commercial ski resort in Southern Africa. Spring brings relief from the cold and vibrant wildflower and fruit tree blossoms before the cycle begins all over again.

Life in Quiet Harmony

Residents, wildlife, birdlife and flourishing flora live in quiet harmony. This is luxurious mountain living, shaped by nature.

A Residential-Only Estate

Airbnb & Short-Term Rental Policy

Clarens Mountain Estate is residential only. No short-term or holiday letting is permitted, so the houses around you belong to someone who bought them, whether they come up every weekend or live here full time.

This policy was put in place with the privacy, peace and security of its residents in mind and it makes a difference you notice. No changeover traffic on a Friday and the same faces year after year.
